DanCity Scroller

The DanCity scroller seen below is a very easy to use applet that can spruce up your website. It has the facility to include images and hypertext links within the scroll text, and you can drag the text forwards and backwards. Go on, don't be shy - have a go!

How To Use It

Follow these simple steps to include the scroller on your web page.
  • Download and unzip the Scroller distribution files.
  • Paste the relevant applet code (see below) into your html page source.
  • Copy the files appropriate files to your webserver.
The following HTML code should be included in your page, ensuring the Scroller.jar file is in the same directory as the page.

<APPLET ARCHIVE="Scroller.jar" CODE="Scroller.class" width=450 height=20>

     <PARAM NAME="copyright" VALUE="(c) 1999 Dan MacFarlane. http://www.dancity.com/">
     <PARAM NAME="text"      VALUE=" ...scroll text here... ">

</APPLET>
The text you choose to use for the text parameter can include images, by inserting an appropriate image tag, and also links by inserting an anchor tag where the value parameter is the link text. For example:

"The <img src='scroller.gif'> applet from <a href='http://www.dancity.com' value='DanCity'>!"

Optional Parameters

The following parameters can be set to alter the appearance of the Scroller:

<PARAM NAME="background" VALUE="#000000">
<PARAM NAME="textcol"    VALUE="#ffffff">
<PARAM NAME="linkcol"    VALUE="#0000ff">
